Mariflor Merlot 2017 - Rolland Collection

Mariflor Merlot 2017 Mendoza Argentina

100% Merlot

“One of the best merlot from here ” James Suckling

Dark colour with scattered orangey highlights.

Aromas of cocoa and ripe black fruit come to the fore on the nose.

Round, full-bodied and unctuous on the palate, underpinned by silky tannins. All in all, a fairly rich and concentrated yet very well-balanced wine, enjoyable to drink now or in ten years’ time.

It is even better decanted.

Michel Rolland

In the line of wines made in Mariflor, and in tribute to our roots Bordeaux , here is our first pure Merlot, from vines planted in 2000. It benefits from our experience, expertise and enthusiasm for this wonderful Argentinian terroir , at 1,100m above sea level at the foot of Andes, in Valle de Uco .

Mariflor Merlot 2017 - Rolland Collection 94/100
A very beautiful red with blackberries and hints of plums and citrus fruit. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with density and energy. The tannins are rolled into the fruit. One of best merlots from here. Delicious finish. Drink or hold.

Mariflor Merlot 2017 - Rolland Collection 90/100
Dark red with ruby highlights. Alluring scents of black fruits, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate complemented by sexy oak spices. Plush, concentrated and fine-grained, in a distinctly easygoing style, with dark fruit, chocolate and spice flavors conveying an impression of full ripeness and low acidity as well as an enticing sappiness. The wine's long finish features plenty of dusty ripe tannins for support. Classic Michel Rolland wine - and exceptional for Merlot in Argentina. (14.7% alcohol; aged in 50% new French barriques and the rest concrete and stainless steel tanks).
